Frequently
Asked Questions

Do you have an office?

Heart & Sole Foot Care is a completely mobile business. I am pleased to offer the convenience of in-home visits to clients residing in Central and Coastal Maine communities.

How soon can I get an appointment?

In-home visits are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays with occasional Monday availability. I am able to get most clients scheduled within a 2 week time period.

Will my insurance cover my visit?

I am unable to bill insurance as a registered nurse. All visits are an out of pocket expense.
I strive to make my services affordable, with visits starting at just $65 depending on your location.

Will you soak my feet?

I do not soak feet. Not only does this carry an infection risk but it is also not a good practice for high risk clients.
Prolonged soaking can also be drying to the skin. If you would prefer, you are welcome to soak your feet prior to my arrival but please know this is not necessary for me to provide care.

Can't I just go to a nail salon?

As a registered nurse I have years of experience assessing lower legs and feet. I also have additional training in high risk foot care. I am skilled in recognizing skin and nail changes associated with chronic illnesses and can safely help you manage those conditions.
In addition to trimming toenails, I provide recommendations on safe footwear, test for sensation in the lower legs and provide a very personalized care plan.

What should I expect at my appointment?

I will bring all of the tools and supplies necessary to complete your care. All items used during your appointment are either single use or properly disinfected following CDC guidelines. I will also bring my own seating and lighting. Your care will be performed in a location in your home that is comfortable for you while still allowing me to safely do my job.

I set aside a full hour for initial visits and at least 45 minutes for follow- up visits. Your care will never be rushed. I take as much times as necessary to provide high quality care depending on your individual needs.

What if I have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy or other chronic conditions that affect my feet?

I am highly trained in the care and management of high risk clients, including those who are diabetic. If something is found during your appointment that is concerning or requires care that is out of my scope of practice as a registered nurse I will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional.
